Workflow Questions

  • Guidelines for Students
In order to provide students with the appropriate guidelines for formatting and submitting their dissertation or thesis, please provide any existing university, graduate school, or departmental guidelines. These may be submitted as PDF, Microsoft Word file, or as a link to a web site.

    PDF or Microsoft Word document:
    URL or other comments:

  • Resources for Students
Important resources or contact information for students that should appear on the web site (e.g. registrar, library liason, writing instructor, etc.)
  • Graduate School logo (GIF, JPG, or Photoshop file preferred)
  • Payment Information
We recommend handling direct student payments - for publishing fees, copyright fees, and copy fees - using the credit card option. This is the most efficient option. Invoicing the graduate school directly is also possible. If students must deliver payment to the school for copyright filing, to whom should the check be made out and where should it be delivered?
  • Are Co-authors Allowed for Theses or Dissertations?
    No
    Yes
  • Checklist items
Before you are able to deliver a manuscript to ProQuest CSA, you will need to complete a check list to verify that all the necessary items are in place. What appears below is a standard checklist. Please modify it to suit your needs.

  • Concurrent delivery to library?
The metadata and PDF of student submissions can be delivered to your library (via FTP) at the time they are delivered to ProQuest CSA. The "pre-pub" version can be used for local storage and access. If you would like this option, enter the contact information for the person responsible for handling such issues for the library.

  • List of degrees conferred:

  • List of departments
Paste a list of departments, or include a link to a URL that lists them.

Restrictions

Some authors have concerns regarding distribution and access to their work. UMI Dissertation Publishing provides some basic access restriction options, including the ability to place a 6 month to 2 year embargo before making the full text available. If an author has more demanding restriction needs, the author will be prompted to note them in the "Notes to Administrators" section of the submission form. The administrator for your ETD Administrator site will then have the opportunity to approve the restriction request before the submission is sent to UMI for publishing.
